Kids Against Hunger organizes events at which your group can pack food which will change the life of a malnourished child. All your group is required to do is raise 25 cents per meal and provide the place and the people. A work this important couldn’t be easier!
The meals your team will pack are a formulated rice-soy ready-to-eat casserole developed by leading scientists from Cargill, Pillsbury, and General Foods. The recipe includes easily digestible protein, carbohydrates and vitamins designed to feed a malnourished child’s body and mind. Each serving includes all 9 amino acids that the body needs as well as a proprietary vitamin supplement that was created to provide the optimum mix. Food is packaged to resist water and has a shelf life of up to three years. Just add boiling water, and, for so many hungry children, dinner is served!
After packaging, food is distributed either to local food banks or to established partners around the world. If your organization works with a particular group that needs food resources, arrangements can be made to provide for those groups.
Not only will your organization be providing food for needy children, however, but also clean water. The 25 cent cost per meal also includes 2 cents to purchase water purification systems to be utilized by the surrounding community.
Finally, you will find that hungry children are not the only beneficiaries. By participating in this exciting, hands-on volunteer experience, the members of your group can feel deeply engaged in the global community. It can reaffirm the need to look beyond their environment and see ways to serve others.
